Citizen Correspondence FAQs
Citizen Correspondence is a revolutionary way for Guam users to get directly involved with KUAM's nightly newscast. It serves a dual purpose as (1) a theatre through which you can exhibit your personal creativity, and (2) a rapid-response pipeline to the award-winning KUAM News team, where you can send community happenings and breaking news events...as they happen.
Frequently-Asked Questions
- Is Citizen Correspondence only meant for the computer-savvy? Well, for best results you will need Internet access and a transmission device of some sort like a PC, laptop, mobile phone, smartphone, Blackberry, etc. But you still can send us media through traditional mechanisms like snail mail or (dropping your clips off to our Harmon Studios).
- Is Citizen Correspondence only a service I can use if I see happen to catch spot news out in the field? No, you submit your own creations anytime and as often as you wish.
- Is Citizen Correspondence only meant for people to rant? Definitely not, although that's certainly one worthwhile application. You can do a variety of things - use your imagination.
- Do I have to be at my computer to submit my stuff? Nope. You can also e-mail images and video from the field to cc@kuam.com.
- Do I have to register/signup for membership? No, we don't require signups for submissions to Citizen Correspondence.
- OK - Citizen Correspondence is like Familiar Faces, but for video? No, this isn't a social networking service like Familiar Faces, but a new way to get involved with the flow of the news.
- Will KUAM will chop, edit and rip my stuff apart? As long as it complies with our Usage Terms and can be safely aired/exhibited, you retain creative control over your work.
- Will I be credited for my work and have my identity revealed? Only if you wish. You may submit things like on-the-spot images or video anonymously, provided you let us know you'd prefer to be named as the source.
- Is Citizen Correspondence only for video? Not at all - you may write a text story/editorial, or an audio track in addition to being able to submit a video.
- Can I just submit raw footage and have KUAM do all the video editing and creative work for me? No. Any video submitted should be of broadcast-quality and good to go as is.
- Am I limited in how many submissions I can make? Nope! You can submit as many pictures, audio clips or video presentations as you wish.
- Do contributions have to be hard news? No. As long as it meets our usage terms, you can send us any type of story, image or audio file.
- Do I get paid for my contributions? No. This is a community service, with your content hosted for free and exhibited through Guam's most dominant and diverse media platform to a huge audience.
