The Legislative Ethics Committee was expected to select an attorney today, but during their meeting this afternoon it was evident the members couldn't reach a consensus.  The committee received applications from attorneys Robert G.P. Cruz, Mitchell Thompson, and Anthony Camacho.

The Ethics Committee members though each had their own preferences on who should be the panel's legal counsel.  But several hours later the committee reconvened and selected Attorney Camacho to represent them and review their interim rules, if he agrees to represent the panel.

Camacho has been tasked to review the ethics complaint filed against Senator Matt Rector by Port Authority of Guam Board of Directors Chair Monte Mesa.

He has up to 30 days to review the complaint and determine if there was any violation of the standing rules and regulations, and then make a recommendation to the ethics chairperson.
