In Mangilao, the Phoenix Center hosted boys high school wrestling, where the Father Duenas Friars played host to the Simon Sanchez Sharks. In the 140-lb. weight class, Bruce Julian took on the Sharks' Joe Sablan. Julian quickly went in for the double leg takedown, securing the ground position and looking for the early pin.
Julian almost capitalized on the cradle pin, but Sablan managed to escaped. Julian however would execute on the same on the move, several seconds later pinning Sablan with a minute left, getting the win via pin in the 1st round.
In the 160-lb. weight class, FD's Chris Aguon took on Shark's Jeric Naputi. Naputi would get the early 4-1 lead in the 1st round, as he was able to capitalized on several takedowns. Aguon however became the aggressor in the last 2 rounds of the match, taking control and securing solid ground position. Aguon tried sealing the deal with a half nelson, but a determined opponent in Naputi was not about to let that happen. Aguon however would wind up getting the 10-4 win after 3 rounds of action.
Jerome Valencia and Jeric Abisia squared off in the 170-lb. weight class. Both wrestlers called it even in the 1st round, with the score dead even at 2 points apiece. Valencia and Abisia struggled for control throughout the match, trying to out power and find a solid ground position. Valencia however received the better end of the stick, as he was able to execute on several takedowns and keeping Abisia away from any counters.
Valencia would wind up earning the win after 3 rounds of action with a 6-4 pt differential and giving FD their 3rd straight match win
The Sharks' Chris San Nicolas gave Sanchez their first win of the night after he handed a FD's Alejo Santos a 3rd round loss. San Nicolas almost got the early win in the 1st round, putting Santos in a half nelson, but Santos managed to hold strong and take the fight to the last 2 rounds. San Nicolas made sure Santos would not make a comeback as he sealed the deal in the last round, once again going for the half-nelson.
But this time, securing the position and getting the win via pin with a 1 minute left into the 3rd round.
