Guam - This fall, University of Guam students may finally have the option to minor in Chamorro studies. Assistant Professor of Chamorro Languages Peter Onedera says the proposal has already been unanimously passed by the faculty senate and is now awaiting final approval from UOG Senior Vice-President Dr. Helen Whippy.

"It is timely with this renaissance and the desire to learn everything there is about Chamorro language and culture and heritage and traditions we should start somewhere and of course this minor program is a start in that direction," Onedera said.

If approved, the minor will include interdisciplinary courses including those in language and culture.
