Guam - Five ambulances are in operation around the island to respond to emergencies, as efforts are underway to make repairs to other medic units that are currently offline.  Acting Guam Fire Department Spokesperson Captain Ed Flores confirms $16,000 was paid to Triple J for prior work.

He told KUAM News, "A lot of our fleet is on the old side and we're trying to refurbish it.  This year we have some grant money through the Compact impact grant and we're also working with USDA to try and get some more ambulances."

Officials are trying to obtain warranty information and maintenance records for some units while GFD must make a purchase order for another to be repaired.
