Guam - The 2010 Xterra Off-Road Triathlon Race is back and ready to start tomorrow morning at 7:30am in Piti. There are a total of 9 professional triathletes, including 30 off-island competitors amongst the field of 119-registered triathletes so far. The race gets underway with a 1L swim from Port Authority Beach and transition into a 31K bike ride through Nimitz Hill and Mt. Alutom, wrapping-up with an 8.2K run through the jungles of Guam.
Defending Xterra Guam winner, Japan and recent Xterra Saipan Champ Sam Garner said about the unique challenges of racing on Guam, "It's a very professional event; Eric [Tydingco] puts on a fantastic race. We are put up in this amazing hotel here and we have great food. It has the best facilities and it's just perfect for us to come out for a three-week trip down to the Pacific and live the life of luxury and get in some good races and meet some great people.
"It is all put on the plate for us, and it is fantastic!"
