Guam - A pre-trial conference is scheduled for police officer Steven Topasna. He was arraigned in August last year facing charges of assault as a 3rd degree felony, assault as a misdemeanor and official misconduct as a misdemeanor. The charges stem from the alleged beating of Rey Gagarin.

In April 2008, Gagarin told KUAM News that an off-duty officer came to his home and began assaulting him. Gagarin was later taken to the Dededo Precinct, but later released from police custody when they realized they had picked up the wrong person.

Topasna is scheduled to appear before Superior Court Judge Vern Perez today.
