GPD gears up with military surplus equipment
by Nick Delgado
Guam - Guam is in full compliance with the Law Enforcement Support Office under the Defense Logistics Agency. In the last year, various Government of Guam agencies have been receiving military surplus items such as tents, vehicles, computers, and supplies. Guam Police Department Captain Eric Fisher says the latest acquisition includes two boats - one to be used at the Port and another for GPD's Marine Patrol Harbor Unit, two generators and some traffic lighting.
As far as the total acquisition cost, he said, "Over the last week alone is in the neighborhood of $80,000, so that adds to our more than $4 million we've procured since our membership back in February 17, 2009."
All of the items are expected to be showcased at the GPD Courtyard in Tiyan sometime next week.
