Guam - A federal grand jury in the CNMI handed down an indictment on Friday against a Juvenile Detention Unit guard.  According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Tyron Farley Reyes Fitial is accused of using his position of authority to force a minor to engage in sexual acts while the child was in the custody of the JDU in Kagman, Saipan.

U.S. Attorney for Guam and the CNMI Leonardo Rapadas said the arrest is part of a larger ongoing FBI investigation into abusive behavior by guards at the detention facility. Rapadas adding, "Guards at any correction facility have a duty to protect detainees from injury and degradation, especially when those detainees are merely children."

Fitial was arrested today and taken into federal custody.
