GMH has follow-up with Joint Commission

Guam - The Guam Memorial Hospital's new management team participated in a scheduled teleconference with the Joint Commission this morning. Interim hospital administrator Rey Vega tells KUAM News the conference dealt solely with last month's unannounced one day survey and additional documentation that GMH must provide in the next two weeks to the accrediting body.
The survey came after the hospital continuously made headlines for lacking medicine, supplies and having significant financial problems impacting patient care and after former governor Felix Camacho's declaration of a state of emergency.
Vega says he is working to schedule a separate meeting with the Joint Commission to formally introduce the new management team and provide their plans for the hospital. The JCO had expressed concerns with any change in management and the board that were terminated over a week ago.
