CNMI Attorney General Edward Manibusan took his oath of office in a private ceremony on Saipan Saturday morning. Manibusan defeated former Judge Juan Lizama in the race for the seat in November and remains the first elected person to the office, which he entered in 2015. Manibusan was joined by his staff, family, and friends as he highlighted the office’s priorities.

"We will engage the administration in making changes to regulations that are necessary to curb waste and abuse in the administration of contracts and other expenditures of public funds," he said.

Manibusan also made history last April filing criminal charges against former Governor Ralph Torres related to alleged illegal first class travel and misuse of funds. The high profile case is still underway in NMI Superior Court.
