The Guam Economic Development Authority held its “Taking the LEAP Beyond Guam” Virtual Export Conference on Wednesday, Feb. 11, bringing together local businesses, aspiring entrepreneurs, and industry experts to explore international export opportunities and strategies.
Christina Garcia, CEO and Administrator of GEDA, said the conference reflects GEDA’s commitment to equipping Guam businesses with the tools, knowledge, and connections needed to compete globally.
Over 85 participants attended, ranging from export-ready firms to businesses exploring international markets for the first time.
Speakers included representatives from the U.S. Embassy Tokyo Agricultural Trade Office, Japaniq, Seely Mint, The Bare Beans Company, Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association, Hyatt Regency Guam, Kingfisher’s Noni, and Don Don Donki.
They shared insights on export strategies, market entry, regulatory considerations, distribution channels, and leveraging tourism to build international demand for Guam-made products.
During the conference, GEDA launched its “Buy Guam” campaign, highlighting Guam product seal permit holders and encouraging both local and international markets to support made-in-guam products.
Monica Guzman, Executive Director of Guam Unique Merchandise & Art, added that exporting not only increases sales but also position Guam-made products to compete globally and strengthen the island’s economy.
