A 39-year-old man with multiple outstanding warrants is facing charges after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase through Yona that ended in a crash.
According to a magistrate’s complaint, Brandon Michael Taisican was charged with eluding a police officer, resisting arrest and reckless conduct, along with reckless driving, disorderly conduct and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police say just before 2 p.m. on Feb. 12, officers spotted a silver Nissan Sentra without proper registration. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver initially pulled over but then sped off as officers approached.
Authorities say speeds reached up to 100 miles per hour, with Taisican allegedly running traffic lights, swerving around vehicles and nearly causing multiple crashes.
The pursuit ended after he collided with a Toyota Corolla near East O’Brien Drive and eventually stopped in the roadway.
Court documents state he resisted arrest before being taken into custody.
