Guam - It's been ten years in the making, but last night at Two Lovers Point the Rotary Club of Northern Guam celebrated the completion and unveiling of its Peace Memorial - a tribute to the victims of the September 11 attacks against America. Joey Lopez was one of the many rotary presidents who over the years has worked on making the monument a reality.

He said, "Just think of a place on Guam where you can come or our friends or visitors and actually pay tribute to the victims."

The Peace Memorial represents a milestone joining more than 20 countries around the world that have built monuments of peace in their homelands. Two Lovers Point was redeveloped several years ago as part of a partnership between the Government of Guam and Calvo Enterprises. With the addition of the memorial, the Rotary Club has been added to this partnership.

Calvo Enterprises vice president Leonard Calvo said, "This memorial its really a public private partnership that we feel shows the best if we all get together we can make it work. Its Government of Guam land, its built with private funds raised by the Rotary Club of Northern Guam, and it will be managed and maintained by us to make sure it stays in good shape."

About a half-million tourists visit Two Lovers Point every year.
