Guam - No one size fits all. Stakeholders at Saturday's village meetings applauded the Governor's Educational Learning Task Force for recognizing this. Merizo Elementary School principal Derrick Santos says he's ready to see changes to the current system as public school students only have five contact hours with teachers verses the six and a half at private schools and DoDEA.

"A lot of people don't like change merely because it affects their personal interests," he said. "You know, teachers they don't want to work six hours if they can work five and still get paid eight."

According to task force chairman Vince Leon Guerrero, the reform team recommends that every school review their programs and determine their own schedule. Village meetings will continue through July.
