Guam - In the last 10 years, homeownership increased, more people held a bachelor's degree and males outnumbered females. These are some of the data the U.S. Census Bureau released today in its Advance Report for Selected Characteristics for Guam as of April 1, 2010. According to Bureau of Statistics and Plans director Tommy Morrison, the additional housing and population data for Guam may ultimately help in applying for more federal opportunities from housing to transportation.

"And importantly it does describe in further details who we are as a people today and where do we go from here and providing for Guam's future," he explained. "So that's what it does and in terms of what the numbers are providing for us."

The Advance Report provides data at the island area level and includes data on age and sex distribution, school enrollment, education attainment, income, marital status, employment status and housing occupancy and tenure.
