As National Guard units across several states are being activated in response to the escalating conflict in the Middle East, there has been no call so far for troops from Guam.

Guam National Guard spokesperson Mark Scott said as of Monday, no units from the island have been activated in connection with the situation involving Iran. Scott says while there is no current deployment, the Guam Guard remains focused on readiness.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said on 60 Minutes when asked by Major Garrett if the US has any overt or covert forces inside Iran now, "I wouldn't tell you that if we did."

Garrett reminded Hegseth that "earlier this week you said no. Is that still the answer?" to which he replied, "Yeah, that's still the answer. But we reserve the right. We would be completely unwise if we did not reserve the right to take any particular option, whether it included boots on the ground or no boots on the ground."

Scott added the Guam National Guard does not track historical deployment percentages, noting they fluctuate over time. At one point, about 600 Guam Guardsmen deployed to Afghanistan in 2012.
