Guam - They received the green light to open doors over two years ago but month-to-month the Guahan Academy Charter School has pushed back their opening date due to a lack of location. Now they may be at risk of losing $600,000 in federal grants.

As we reported at Tuesday's table talks meeting with Senator Aline Yamashita it was revealed the school has until the end of this month to designate a site or lose the funds. Guam Education Board member Barry Mead tells KUAM News if Guahan Academy loses the funds, it would return to department and may be reallocated for other DOE needs.

Mead says title five grants often support secondary programs, the purchase of supplies and equipment for classrooms, as well as fund special projects.
