Guam - May marks High Blood Pressure Education Month and to get the word out the Department of Public Health and Social Services along with its partners is hosting a Healthy Lifestyles for Healthy Generations Healthfair.

Lifestyle disease prevention and control program coordinator Deborah Delgado said, "The primary focus on this health fair is to increase awareness, understanding, and knowledge of high blood pressure with heart disease and stroke being the third leading cause of death. It is important to educate the community on the benefits of addressing their lifestyle choices."

Aside from free health screenings and free immunizations from DOE school nurses for eligible students, high school students will compete head to head to create a nutritious and tasty meal with the winning plate to be introduced to the public school menu next school year.

The healthfair is set for Saturday, May 11 at the Micronesia Mall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
