The Guam Police Department has “tentatively” identified the lifeless adult man pulled out of the waters across from the St. Joseph Cemetery in Inalahan Saturday as Kevin Ayangco Banico, the man reported missing by his family this weekend.

GPD Public Information Officer Norman Analista says, “Family members of Mr. Banico have provided descriptions of tattoos on his body which are consistent with tattoos on the body that was discovered.”

He added, “GPD continues to work with the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office to positively identify that the male is Mr. Banico.”

GPD has suspended the search for Banico and says no further releasable information is available at this time.

Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Kenny Su tells KUAM his office relies on family identification as GPD does not have the tools for a fingerprint data bank.

He adds an exam is scheduled for Tuesday, with toxicology results expected in two months.

Meantime, friends of Banico have set up a fundraiser on behalf of his family to assist in funeral and travel expenses, along with other immediate needs.

The GoFundMe states Banico leaves behind his sisters, brother, father and extended family, adding, “To know Kevin was to know he loved the Lord and had a zeal for the outdoors and adventure and worship and talking about life with intention.”
