As Guam prepares for potential impacts from Tropical Storm Sinlaku, Attorney General Douglas Moylan is warning businesses: Price gouging will not be tolerated.

Under a Condition of Readiness (COR) declaration, Guam law freezes prices at pre-emergency levels, meaning merchants, landlords, and fuel providers cannot raise prices in anticipation of the storm.

This applies to gasoline, diesel, propane, and other essential goods.

Officials emphasize that while prices cannot go up, businesses are still allowed to lower prices at any time.

Violators could face steep penalties, including fines and enforcement action.

Residents are encouraged to document any sudden price increases and report suspected violations to the Office of the Attorney General at www.guamattorney general.org.

As families prepare, officials say protections are in place to ensure no one is taken advantage of during this time.
