As of 12pm Sunday, both the current Typhoon Watch and Flood Watch continue for Guam in anticipation of Typhoon Sinlaku approaching our region, with the weather system having taken a northward shift, positioning it possibly to pass over Rota. Despite this change in initial trajectory, the National Weather Service is describes Sinlaku as being "a major typhoon" approaching us, with meteorologist Brandon Aydlett informing response activity coordinators "it's going to be close".

An eye has started to form in the typhoon, and the NWS stressed that there is only a single typhoon that the agency is watching. A social media-rumored second storm is just a series of heavy wind activity to the east, so Typhoon Sinlaku is the sole system being tracked.

The overall outlook is still for continued intensification of the storm as it moves northwest away from Chuuk and towards the Marianas. Showers are expected to pick up tonight with strong gusts into the late evening. Sustained strong winds are expected after daybreak Monday.

Aydlett indicated that a reasonable arrival time for tropical storm conditions would be Monday evening or night, with possibly early Tuesday morning seeing typhoon-strength conditions, with lots of rain and flooding expected.

Updates are being posted at 3pm, 9pm, 3am and 9am daily by the NWS for the typhoon's further movement and conditions, as well as the Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense about storm preparations as Typhoon Sinlaku moves closer.
