While Guamanians made storm preparations and secured their homes on Sunday, most also attended weekend church services, offering prayers for safety against a threatening weather system of considerable force. And in the overnight hours Monday, what's now Supertyphoon Sinlaku continued its shift north, positioning its projected path away from Guam and closer to Saipan.

And now our community's prayers are being sent for our neighbors in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

But conditions are still hazardous locally. Supertyphoon Sinlaku, as of 4am about 340 miles east-southeast of Guam, is now moving at 10 miles per hour, packs maximum sustained winds of 175 mph - and could move into the Marianas as a Category 4 or 5 typhoon. Guam remains in Condition of Readiness 2, with a Typhoon Watch and Tropical Storm Warning in effect. Additionally, a Flash Flood Watch was issued at 3am through Wednesday morning, with some flooding already reported on Cross-Island Road.

Winds of tropical storm-intensity along with substantial rainfall are expected for Guam, along with very dangerous seas.
