From wagging tails to community support, Pet Fest is coming up this saturday. KUAM News headed over to GAIN to talk to two of the organizers getting everything ready for the big event.

Helen Le said, "It's a community event for animal lovers to come together, and really its just a day in the sun with your animals and at the same time promote awareness of the biggest issue is the boonie dogs on island." Organizers explain in detail what this year's Pet Fest will include, what people can expect, as well as how it differs from last year's event.

Guam Animals in Need executive director Aliaon Hadley said, "We really try to focus on bringing in local vendors, and local talent of any kind you know so we have local music, people selling locally only made handicrafts. But this year we're always trying to jazz it up a little bit, so this year we are bringing the Fun Run, its a 1K run around the Ypao beach park so this is open to all families, all activity levels and of course the fur babies are to be included in that too, so we're really hoping that people will join that, too."

"We're going to do a little bit different stuff on the stage so we're going to have an agility course in addition to the one PDC and Milk-Bone do put together, this one will be meant for a human and animal combo, so they'll run it together and then the individual human will run it themselves and try to beat each others time."

They are also encouraging pet owners to get established with a local veterinary clinic. "We are also very lucky to have Dr. Bob joining us; he is going to have a vet tent there from Guam Pet Hospital to be there for safety, make sure all the animals are happy and healthy, and to then to also just promote getting involved with a vet clinic, you know we really wanna encourage pet owners to be established with a vet, if case there's any emergencies or any questions to just help them give their fur babies the best life possible," Hadley added.

Organizers share what the theme for this year will be. "This year, we're doing its a island bash theme, so one of the things I like to see or one of the things that I want a lot of people to take away from Pet Fest is because its an island theme to understand the island culture," she said.

An island bash full of wagging tails and happy hearts await at Pet Fest. It's all about good vibes, happy pets, and making sure our fur-babies are safe and loved.
