We’re tracking three tropical disturbances across Micronesia today—including one system that could develop within the next 24 hours.

Invest 93W—currently west of Chuuk Lagoon—is now under a Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert and is rated high for development. Forecast models show it likely becoming a tropical depression as it tracks westward.

Meanwhile, invest 92W near Palau remains weak with a low chance of development and is expected to move toward the Southern Philippines.

Invest 94W southwest of Kosrae is also not expected to develop in the near term, but will be closely monitored through the week.

For the Marianas—there is no tropical cyclone threat at this time. All three systems are expected to remain south of Guam and the CNMI.

However, we will see impacts locally—with strong trade winds surging through the week, bringing increased showers tonight through Thursday morning as 93W passes to our south.

Seas will remain elevated with a high risk of rip currents and residents are urged to use caution along area beaches. Further south—Yap and Chuuk states can expect periods of heavy rain and gusty winds over the next few days.
