A tropical depression is moving through Micronesia—and now prompting warnings across Yap State. The National Weather Service says Invest 93W has been upgraded to Tropical Depression 05W, tracking west through the FSM.

A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for Faraulep, where storm conditions are expected within 24 hours. Meanwhile, a Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Satawal and Woleai, with possible impacts within 48 hours.

As of this morning, the system was packing winds near 35 miles per hour and moving west at about 8 miles per hour with forecasts showing further strengthening—likely becoming a tropical storm later today or overnight.

For Guam and the CNMI—officials say there is no direct threat at this time, as the system passes well to the south. However, expect breezy conditions, spotty showers, hazardous seas and a high risk of rip currents through the week.
