Guam - Although Chad DeSoto has been convicted and sentenced to life behind bars for the Tumon tragedy last year, health issues continue to delay the case's closure.

DeSoto's cousin, girlfriend, and mother were all witnesses in the trial. Despite orders not to speak with the defendant, all three did so.

Although DeSoto's mother Rae was set to appear before Judge Anita Sukola today, her attorney John Terlaje explained health issues kept her from doing so.

"She's readmitted to the hospital and she's still there...she was [in the hospital], then she was released, Your Honor. Then she got readmitted."

Earlier this year the court addressed contempt of court charges against cousin Michele Fatovic and girlfriend Reanne Acasio. The court showed mercy on both women who walked away scot free.

Rae DeSoto's next hearing date is December 22.
