UOG will continue research on hatchery property

Guam - The University of Guam also benefited from this morning's deed signing as Governor Eddie Calvo put pen to paper for property in Fadian, Mangilao. President Dr. Robert Underwood says the signing would officially give the university the title over the property and would allow UOG to seek investors for a private-public partnership.

"The highlight of the University of Guam hatchery is that it is pathogen free shrimp, which is very rare which means whoever gets a hold of our shrimp will have a better chance of having them reach maturity so it's a more efficient use, more effective use and more economical use of these resources so we look forward to this, we've had investors talk to us already," he stated.

Underwood says the signing will allow for continued research on the property that is estimated at over 21,000 square meters or about 6 to 7 acres.
