Guam - Keith Jermaine Garrido may be entering a plea deal for a 2013 burglary and theft case, but he'll still head to trial for a murder that occurred two years ago.

Because the court's video teleconference system was inoperable today, Garrido did not appear in the courtroom. Assistant Public Defender Ana Marie Gayle did however notify the court of Garrido's intentions to plead out to the case with lesser charges.

As we've been reporting, Garrido is accused of killing Barrigada resident Nancy Mafnas after he burglarized her Dededo home. While detained, Garrido reportedly escaped from a DOC vehicle en route to a court hearing and allegedly assaulted another woman in her home.

Garrido's next court appearance is set for December 24.
