Details of a lawsuit in the Superior Court regarding potentially harmful PFAS chemicals were outlined today in a press conference with Attorney General Leevin Camacho.

PFAS chemicals, also known as the "Forever Toxins," are at the center of the major nationwide litigation, and Guam is one of the many communities alleging water contamination.

"They have known for decades that there are adverse health impacts based on the exposure to these chemicals and they have hidden that from the general public and have continued to market and to sell their products using a triple F for firefighting knowing full well that those may be dangerous to the community and could get into the environment including water," Camacho said.

"Our claims are all grounded in the fact that these companies knew of the dangers or should have known and continued to market and sell these products. So the two theories that we have raised or product liability and deceptive trade practices. We've also filed a complaint for nuisance because at some point were' going to have to clean up the mess that these companies have created."

Camacho said he'll be amending his complaint to include Guam Waterworks Authority in Guam's lawsuit. It charges several top companies, including 3M, Dupont, and Tyco Fire, of injury to natural resources, namely contamination of the groundwater.
