Japanese retailer Don Don Donki breaks ground in Tamuning

It will be Japanese retail Giant Don Quijote's largest "Don Don Donki" convenience store. Officials broke ground on the project today at the future location at the intersection of Marine Corps Drive and Airport Road. Founder and Chairman Takao Yasuda told the crowd that he chose Guam after coming here several times for corporate training events. He says he is confident that the location will prove very successful. The grand opening is scheduled for September 0f next year.

The total building size will be 270-thousand square feet, while the "Don Don" store will be 160-thousand. There are nearly 700 stores in Japan, Hawaii, the U.S. and throughout Asia.
