The governor's chief of staff, Tony Babauta, is staying at the Pacific Star Hotel. And while Public Health is footing the bill for his hotel stay, director Linda Denorcey says she doesn't even know how long Babauta has been put up at the Tumon hotel.

Babauta has been put up at the PacStar, GovGuam's quarantine facility. And while the general public and travelers may have one way to get into this facility, it appears Babauta went straight to the top and called Denorcey.

"He just spoke with me the other day, he wasn't feeling too well, so he wanted to make sure he didn't want to affect any of his family - he does have elderly parents - so he wanted to make sure he was not in close contact with people that is very dear to him, i believe that's what happened," she said.

So we asked Denorcey what would happen if a member of the public tried the same thing, saying, "If I called you guys and said, 'I don't really feel good right now, I got some family members would I be able to check into the Pacific Star without a test?'", to which she replied, "Of course, we will monitor you and we will get your information and out team will come and contact you and do our assessment."

The Pacific Star is one GovGuam's quarantine facilities for all inbound travelers to Guam, while one other  hotel is a designated COVID isolation unit  - meaning if you test positive for COVID-19, and your house doesn't meet CDC guidelines for home isolation, you will be checked in .

With community testing ramping up, we asked Denorcey if Babauta wasn't feeling well, did he know he could get tested for free at DPHSS coronavirus testing sites.

"I believe that everybody in the community should know because of course we're launching this whole testing to everyone, so I'm not going to single out anyone," she said.

While Babauta did not return a request for comment from KUAMs multimedia show Containing COVID, we asked Denorcey how long Babauta has been staying at PacStar. "I don't know that information we didn't get into details about that," said Denorcey.

We also asked her to confirm reports whether Babuata was living the suite life, and she said, "I have no idea. I don't go into details with that and I’m being very honest with you."

This afternoon Governor's Communications Director Janela Carrera said that Babauta only stayed at the Pacific Star one night because he wasn't feeling well and that he was assessed and cleared the following day.
