If you've been swimming in our waters and come across something that looks like a sea snake, don't be alarmed. According to the Department of Agriculture's Division of Aquatic and Wildlife Resources Program Coordinator Veronica Salas, Guam does have a Banded Snake Eel which looks similar to a sea snake.

The Banded Snake Eel is neither venomous nor dangerous and it is not a cause for concern. If you have any questions about this or other marine organisms, you can call 735-0289.
