One of the island's newest charter schools is gearing up, opening registration for the upcoming school year. Career Tech High Academy Charter School is limiting enrollment to a combined total of 100 ninth and tenth graders. They plan to start classes on Oct. 5.

"We are requiring only three hours of synchronous learning. So what that means is during that three-hour block our students can either tune in from their device at home or come on campus," Principal Tamar Celis told KUAM News. "If they do choose to come on campus we have a huge academic classroom that can accommodate at most 25 students."

They are prepared to host a full cohort but parents may opt for an online classroom, she said. They also want to prioritize equitable access.

"Our teachers will be calling home, meeting up with students, doing home visits, or doing campus tutoring on a one on one basis," Celis said. "We really just want to make sure that no student falls between the cracks."

They note that a maximum of 35 students will be on campus.

Career Tech is tuition-free, and bussing will be available islandwide. Its beachside campus is located at the traffic light intersection of Route 2 and Route 12 in Agat. For more information, call 797-TECH (8324). or visit www.careertechguam.org
