Medicaid could be available to migrant FAS citizens for first time since '96
Compact of Free Association migrants may soon be eligible for Medicaid coverage again, for the first time since 1996. Congressman Michael San Nicolas says if approved, it could mean millions of dollars in savings for the locally funded Medically Indigent program.
COFA migrants turned to MIP after becoming ineligible for Medicaid, which is a medical assistance program for low income families. In a News release San Nicolas said "more updates will be forthcoming in the next 24 to 48 hours, including on relief and stimulus packages.
Congress is trying to wrap up major outstanding issues before it can recess for the holidays.
