Parent and community information sessions on Education Stabilization Fund Program
The Guam Department of Education Superintendent of Education and the Chief State School Officer, Mr. Jon J.P. Fernandez, invites parents, guardians, and other community stakeholders to participate in input sessions to listen and provide input relative to the Education Stabilization Fund Program II - State Educational Agencies (ESF II - SEA) for Outlying Areas. The virtual Input Sessions are scheduled for next week, via Zoom, on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, and Thursday, February 18, 2021, more information and the Zoom access links are provided below:

Under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CARES Act) U.S. Public Law 116-260, the U.S. Department of Education (US-Ed) awarded the GDOE with $110,563,287 through the ESF II-SEA Grant to address the impact of the Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) on the island’s education system. The GDOE supports eligible participating PreK - 12 public, private non-public, and charter educational institutions.
The GDOE ESF II-SEA grant funds will continue to support the three areas of priority based on the approved May 2020 CARES Act, GDOE ESF-SEA Certification and Agreement:
1) Student and employee health and safety;
2) Expansion of distance and modified learning platforms; and
3) Mental, social and behavioral health and wellness support
These informational and input sessions will outline the purpose of the ESF II-SEA allowable use of funds and provide parents and community stakeholders an opportunity to ask questions and provide input directly to the district office on the three identified priority areas.
