In front of family, friends and co-workers, Trinity Hufana was crowned Queen of the Pacific 2021 on April 17 at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa.
It was the second time Hufana, who represented the Central Republic of Honduras, had vied for the title, which typically features transwomen.
Hufana appeared on the Link with Jason Salas and spoke about how wearing her crown comes with a certain responsibility to Guam's LGBTQ community.
"I would approach the responsibility with nothing but kindness," she said. "I think a lot of people misunderstand the LGBTQ community. Sometimes it takes that little act of kindness to get them to open up so they can educate themselves a little bit more."
The 2021 winners also included Xerabel Guahanila, Miss Guam, who came in second, Madam Raven B Love, representing Germany who took third and Jessica San Nicolas, Miss Vietnam took fourth place.
The Miss Queen of the Pacific Pageant was founded on April 25, 2013, and aims to promote acceptance and equality with all walks of life, according to Leah Su-Nami, owner and national director of Leah's Fabulous Productions.
