A village-based COVID-19 vaccination clinic was held in Mongmong-Toto-Maite and it proceeded slowly. The Department of Public Health and Social Services conducted the clinic at the village's mayor's office and not many residents availed the opportunity to get vaccinated.
When KUAM arrived at the clinic two hours after it began, no residents were at the site at around 11am, and Mayor Rudy Paco said he was unavailable to make a comment on the clinic operations.
According to DPHSS Public Information Officer Janela Carrera, the department anticipates a low turnout for its village-based clinics, but that won't stop their efforts to get our island to reach herd immunity. She says 115 island residents got vaccinated at the tri-villages clinic.
Meanwhile, another village based vaccination clinic will be held down south in Talofofo this week Friday.
The clinic is set to kickoff at the Talofofo Gym from 9am to 3pm or while supplies last.
