Shooting victim taken to the hospital

South Doyle Street in Malesso is described as a quiet neighborhood.
When KUAM arrived on the scene this afternoon, yellow caution tape had cordoned off an area where police officers had gathered.
The Guam Police Department reported that a male with a gunshot wound to his leg area was transported to the hospital for treatment and care.
Officers from the Southern Precinct Command responded to the shooting incident in the southern village just before noon.
KUAM spoke with a village resident, who asked to remain anonymous, who said she heard a "loud bang" around 11:30 a.m. to noon.
She said that when she exited her residence that a male and female in a red truck and a van was in the middle of the road having an argument.
The resident also shared that the individuals were yelling at each other saying "Did you see that" and yelled, "get down." She couldn't tell what kind of bang it was because she was in her room however it sounded like two cars colliding.

The shooting occurred at a GHURA housing unit in Merizo. Agency officials arrived at the scene informing KUAM that all their staff are safe.
KUAM reached out to Mayor Ernest Chargualaf who said he was out of the village when he received a call about the shooting. He said it's a shock because his village is quiet.
The investigation is still ongoing.
