Fernandez hopes to serve again on Council of Chief State School Officers

Guam Department of Education Superintendent Jon Fernandez isn't opposed to serving another term on the Board of Directors of the Council of Chief State School Officers. The board of directors manage the overall business affairs of the council. Fernandez was appointed in early August to serve the remaining term of former Hawaii state superintendent Christina Kishimoto.
Fernandez said during a weekly media meeting Wednesday that he recently threw his hat in the ring.

So, you know I think it's an opportunity to or been a good opportunity to have been at those virtual board meetings to discuss the role the organization plays in terms of moving education forward during this time of covid-19 pandemic and recovery. And so as a representative from this part of the world I think it's been good to bring our perspective to the table with other states to talk about what the priorities ought to be. -OUT:01:00:15
