With the onset of dry season and strong winds that the island has been experiencing, Thursday afternoon, several units from the Guam Fire Department with the assistance of Department of Agriculture Forestry battled a large grassfire in the hills of Santa Rita and Hagat.

Christine Camacho Fejeran, Forestry Chief said that the fire split into two along the border between the southern villages.

According to GFD Spokesperson Kevin Reilly, no residents needed to be evacuated and the fire was under control a little before 6 p.m. last night.
