Do you have the creative skills it takes to come up with the next Guam Community College’s mascot? If so, GCC is calling all current and former students, alumni, and employees to join the mascot search contest.

A Mascot Design Committee was established and it defined the college’s brand personality as prestigious, original, classic, striving for excellence, honoring our heritage, strength, power, friendly but fierce.

The mascot design must reflect this personality and incorporate the College’s school colors of Aqua Blue and White.

According to GCC Assistant Communications and Promotions Director John Dela Rosa, the Tradesman mascot has not been utilized for more than three decades, which was used back in the 70s and 80s when GCC transitioned from just a vocational high school to a high school and college.

The winning mascot will be aligned with GCC’s current brand, helping define and identify the institution for both internal and external communities. It will also unify and embody the GCC school spirit and serve as a public symbol of GCC’s continuing effort to equip their students with skills to achieve their life and career goals, the release states.

The winner will receive $500 and the first official print of the GCC selected mascot. A judges panel will provide recommendations of the top three finalists who will move on to the final selection round by June 1. Then, the Mascot Design Committee will select the winner which will be unveiled during the first week of July.

Submissions will be accepted through May 27.
