Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints opens new temple in Yigo

After more than three years of construction, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints invites you to the open house of the new Yigo Guam temple. Typically, only members of the Latter-Day Saints may enter the temple, however, this open house is an opportunity to visit the sacred space.
General Authority Seventy for the Latter-Day Saints John Pingree Jr. detailed what the facilities inside the newly built temple are for. "A Temple is a very special, sacred building, where we go and we perform ordinances and make promises to God," he explained. "To follow Him, to treat others with goodness and kindness and to be obedient to his commandments and we also receive blessings from Him."
"It’s also a place where we can be married or sealed for beyond this life. These sealings keep our families together into the next life, into eternity."
The Church of Latter-Day Saints has about 172 of these temples around the world, and what makes the Yigo temple special is that it won’t only be serving Guam, but all of Micronesia and the 9,600 members of the Latter-Day Saints that are in Saipan, Palau and the Federated States of Micronesia.
The open house will be from May 4-14 and will be open every day, except Sundays. After the open house, the temple will have its dedication and only members of the Latter-Day Saints will be allowed inside.
