In Decision 2022 news, more island residents are looking to serve in public office as new packets have been picked up, according to the Guam Election Commission website. Former senator Maryann "Mana" Silva Taijeron and Fred Schmidt picked up packets for senator on the republican side of the ballot.

Taijeron served one term in the legislature and has more than 20 years of experience in journalism. She told KUAM News, "still just considering a possible run."

Angel Sablan and William Parkinson are looking to run as a democrat for senator.

Sablan has been the Mayors' Council of Guam Executive Director for nearly 14 years. He also served 12 years as the deputy director and director for the Guam Department of Corrections, in total over 30 plus years in GovGuam as an unclassified employee. He said in a statement to KUAM News, "no decision on my part yet to run." Parkinson previously ran for senator.

Meanwhile, Mark Mendiola confirmed with KUAM News exclusively that he is not looking to return to the Guam Education Board next year-- said to focus on family matters.

Mendiola has been on the board for the last five years.
