Second rape trial begins for surahanu

The trial has begun for surahanu and former police officer for the Port Authority of Guam, Frank Ko' James San Nicolas. He’s facing charges of criminal sexual conduct for allegedly raping a woman in Tanguisson in May of 2020.
According to the prosecution, the victim went to Tangiusson Beach to connect spiritually and was approached by San Nicolas. The victim realized that San Nicolas was the father of her friend. San Nicolas allegedly told the victim they could go to a place where they could connect with the ancestors which was inside of a cave.
Assistant Attorney General Richelle Canto said in her opening statement“He fooled her into thinking all they were doing was connecting with the ancestors but that is the cave where he raped her. “
And this is not his first time being accused of sexual assault.
Canto also said, “This is a man who has gotten away with raping women for years who were all too scared to talk this must end now with this trial.”
According to KUAM News files, San Nicolas was acquitted in December 2021 for the alleged rape of another woman.
He is being represented by Jay Arriola who said in his opening statement “The evidence will show consent.” He also added that “No one said no.”
Ten to 15 witnesses are anticipated to take the stand throughout this trial and will continue tomorrow in Superior Court before Judge Arthur Barcinas at 9:30 a.m.
