The Liberation Day Parade came back in full force today. Team KUAM joined you, our island community, in celebrating its 78th year.

A prayer as rain poured down on the parade, a priest announced a solumen prayer, "Oh Mary, our mother, Santa Marian Kamalen, powerful protectress and patron of Guam, we come before you with thankful hearts, for your constant care in times past." Perhaps a blessing on this 78th Liberation Day and a return of a beloved island tradition held back by a deadly virus.

Memorials across the island reminding us of the gravity of the history, these floats color in the closure some inch closer to.

Guamanians in complete jubilation cheering on the over 30 groups marching on. Eleecia Cali told KUAM News, "We try to do this every year, as my husband wants this to be a tradition. So we try to do our best to get a spot every year  for not only my family but also my staff as well."

"It really means a lot it really brings me back to my childhood and so this year with it being free, it really touches my heart to see more people coming out because of that reason," she added.

A reason for the season of remembering, reflecting, and now reveling.  Veteran Ken Naputi shared, "We are so proud. We are joint forces here today with Army, Navy, and Marines. That is what liberated us 78 years so thank you Guam, thank you."
