It's a surefire sign that election season is in full swing. Early voting begins tomorrow, July 28 at the Westin Resort Guam's mezzanine level from 10 am to 6 p.m. The early voting center will be open Tuesday to Friday and will remain open until Aug. 19. Gec executive director Maria Pangelinan gave a walkthrough of the early voting process.

"We will do a first come, first served basis,"  she explained. "The three tables behind us are station one. So station one has three tables. So our three temporary girls will be able to help our voters. Show your ID and if they’re not registered to vote, they can come in here to the early vote center to register and vote at the same time up until Aug. 17.

So station one, they’re going to make you fill out an application for early voting, show your ID, they’ll validate that you are who you are and then you will sign off that you’re there proceed to station two, at station two, they will give you a ballot, the right ballot from your precinct and then you will go to the voting booth and vote."

Once residents are done at the voting booth, you then head over to station three, where you’ll show your government issued id sign an affidavit confirming your identity, seal it in a ballot envelope, mark it off, seal it in a courier envelope and mark it off also then put it in the ballot box.

Sixteen slots will also be available at the lobby for residents with disabilities and these slots will only cater to them.

"We will have accessible voting for those voters who cannot come up to our polling room unassisted," Pangelinan said. "So the accessible voting is strictly for our voters who need a little bit of help. We will service them right outside the lobby level close to the parking structure."

As for parking, there are 29 slots available at Westin's parking garage, but GEC has something to help voters get around to the voting area.

"We will have golf carts stationed at parking level 4A for those who park," Pangelinan said. "We will put them on the golf carts and bring them straight up to the mezzanine level. When they finish voting, we will take them back to level 4A of the parking structure."

A satellite parking space will also be available for voters to park and it will be at the Lotte Hotel. Once there a van will be waiting to drop voters off to the voting center and once they’re done, they will be dropped right back to the lotte parking lot.

Don’t forget to bring a valid government-issued id with you to vote and to register to vote.
