Guam will ring in 2023 with fireworks displays, drone show

Fireworks and a special drone show will light the New Year's Eve skies over Guam. The Guam Visitors Bureau will be hosting multiple fireworks displays to ring in 2023.
Spokesman Josh Tyquiengco told KUAM News, "We have not one, not two, but three fireworks shows that we're going to be launching at the stroke of midnight. But before that at 11:50pm there's going to be a drone light show exclusive to Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Park, or Ypao Beach Park, at 11:50pm. It's going to last about nine minutes long, and they're working with Fellow Wings Aviaton on the program and the timing of the show, but it's going to be a beautiful celebration."
At the stroke of midnight there will be separate fireworks shows - one on the west side of Tumon Bay, another by the Dusit-Hyatt area, and the third show will be further south in Hagatna by the Boat Basin, which will be put on by Jamz Media. GVB has invested about $120,000 on the fireworks, and about $25,000 for the drone show.
"Definitely a worthy investment considering we haven't really had a big New Year's Eve fireworks show in many years, that GVB has hosted," Tyquiengco added. "I know last year we did have something we helped sponsor with the Governor's Office, but this year its something we're proud to bring back for the community to enjoy."
GVB is also inviting people to submit their best fireworks or drone photos for a chance to win $150 in the holiday edition of the #instaguam contest.
