Professor Dr. Ron McNinch is slated to appeal his punishment handed down by the University of Guam president, Dr. Thomas Krise next Tuesday during the board of regent meeting.

McNinch said the issue is the first amendment and that all citizens have a right to talk about questions of policy.

It was during last year's election that McNinch wrote an email to students and staff about the great debate. UOG claimed his statements were rude, belligerent and insulting and contended went against their policy. He was reprimanded.

McNinch told KUAM that he waived confidentiality and waived all conflicts. This means the board can talk to just about anybody on his actions and comments regarding the candidates who were supposed to take part in the great debate.

The meeting gets underway at 3 p.m., Jan. 17.
