Former senator and longtime Yona mayor Jose “Pedo” Terlaje has passed.

Terlaje served in the previous two legislative terms and was the chairman of the Public Safety Committee. 

He led Yona from 2001 to 2013.

"Pedo," as he was known, also ran for lieutenant governor with the late Sen. Angel Santos in 1998.

Aside from politics, he was an officer with the Guam Police Department for 16 years, and a U.S Army "Purple Heart" veteran who was awarded "Soldier of the Year."

Condolences and accolades are pouring in from the governor, speaker, minority leader and other former legislative colleagues.

State funeral services are pending. #

Terlaje was 76-years-old.
